What is Thought Field Therapy?

TFT is a drug-free, non-invasive therapy involving tapping on the terminal points of acupuncture meridians. It can bring about almost immediate long-term relief from many emotional conditions, including addictions, compulsions, phobias, anxiety, guilt, anger, and the effects of trauma.

Is TFT Painful or uncomfortable in any way?

Absolutely not. TFT doesn’t involve any needles or instruments, just gentle tapping with fingertips. There’s also no need to talk about your problems, because we don’t need to know the content of the problem to treat it.

What’s a TFT treatment like?

On your first visit we’ll take a brief history and talk about a treatment plan. The treatments themselves take only a few minutes. They consist of us showing you how to tap with your fingertips on certain points on your face, upper body, and hands. You’ll be asked to think about what’s troubling you, then rate your distress on a scale of 1-10.

After tapping on a specific sequence of points, 80-90% of clients notice an immediate reduction in emotional distress, often getting complete and lasting relief in ten minutes or less.

How successful are the treatments?

Our treatments are completely successful for 80-90% of the presenting problems we see. In rare instances we might need to refer you to a local TFT Diagnostician, but in the vast majority of cases we can provide complete relief right here in our office in one session.

Does TFT have any side-effects?

Unlike treatments that use drugs, TFT is entirely free of unwanted side-effects. The only ingredients in a TFT treatment are you, the therapist, and your own fingertips.

How does TFT work?

TFT works by changing the flow of your body’s electrical energy. In a TFT treatment we tap key meridian points in specific sequences. This removes disruptions in the body’s natural healing system, and allows for fast and thorough resolution of presenting problems with no unwanted side effects.

I’m skeptical. What if I just don’t believe TFT will work for me?

TFT is not faith-healing. It’s not necessary to hold any belief in order for it to be effective for you; it works just as well for skeptics as for people who already know how quickly and easily it creates changes.

The First TFT Treatment

In 1981 Dr. Roger Callahan, a cognitive psychologist, had a patient named Mary who had a severe lifelong fear of water.

Dr. Callahan had tried everything he knew to help Mary, but he could only teach her to tolerate her terror of water a little more over time. One day Mary reported feeling the fear as distress in her stomach, and Dr. Callahan asked her to use her fingers to tap the terminus of the stomach acupressure meridian, located under her eye, thinking it might make her feel a little better.

“It’s gone!” Mary told him.

“What’s gone?” Dr. Callahan asked.

“The fear is gone!” Mary jumped up and ran to the swimming pool behind his office, which she hadn’t been able to approach closely before. She sat down, took her shoes off, and splashed her legs in the water.

Mary’s fear of water has never returned.

Dr. Callahan experimented with other problems and treatments, and over a period of some years developed a number of algorithms - step-by-step procedures or sequences of taps on certain meridians in a particular order, customized for particular conditions. It’s these algorithms we use to treat your problems here at Seattle Changes.
